Token maxing is the AI equivalent of bad automation. It burns computational resources at scale to move faster without actually creating more value.
Because access to tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini is so easy, the instinct is to jump straight to the final step: getting the machines to do the work.

To figure out if your automation is actually working, ask yourself these core questions:
- Views & Reach: Though I am using AI, are we actually getting more views?
- Lead Generation: Though I am using AI, are we pulling in more leads?
- Bottom Line: Though I am using AI, are we making more money?
If the answer to these questions is no, you have automated the wrong things.
The Right Order of Operations

Before you build a workflow or hand a process over to AI, run it through the fundamental optimization framework:
- Question the Requirements: Challenge every single assumption and standard operating procedure.
- Delete the Nonsense: Eliminate all unnecessary, outdated, or low-value steps completely.
- Simplify & Optimize: Maximize your return by getting the most output from the least effort.
- Accelerate: Speed up cycle times—find ways to execute the simplified process faster manually.
- Automate: Only after the process is lean, effective, and fully optimized should you delegate it to the machines.
Automation should be the final polish on an already high-performing process—not a band-aid for broken operations. Fix the work first, then let the robots take over.
